Pastoral Care Ministry

Walk where He walked, healed and ministered

Provide a ministry of prayer and presence in the hometown of Jesus

We are looking for Christians with experience in a ministry setting – from seminary students to church leaders, and everyone in between – and feel a calling to Christian spiritual care in an ethnically and religiously diverse environment.

You will be part of an experienced team of local and international volunteers who deliver pastoral care to our staff, patients, visitors, students and volunteers at their point of need.

During your time with SERVE Nazareth you will be involved in visiting patients in the hospital wards, participating in chapel services, praying with staff members, running discipleship courses, and so forth. Depending on your level of experience in pastoral care and the weekly schedule of our Pastoral Care Team, this is normally a part-time placement in addition to another volunteer placement in one of the other areas of our organisation, such as being a tour guide in Nazareth Village, helping the maintenance team, etc. This will be discussed with you during your interview and monitored during your time as a volunteer with our organisation.

I love attending the weekly chapel service. Especially when I am on call it encourages me a lot, I feel strengthened for the day.

– Joana, Medical Doctor at the Nazareth Hospital

Orientation and training will be provided upon arrival. The minimum requirement for serving with the pastoral care ministry team is six weeks.

The cost of the SERVE programme is $950 per month and this covers food as provided by our kitchen, lodging, transport to and from the airport in Israel and just about everything, except snacks, souvenirs and personal travel.

Our experience with SERVE Nazareth has resulted in setting up a ministry of prayer and presence in our hometown in the Netherlands.
